Survival-linX Solutions has sucussfully awarded approval from the Health Service Executive for Northern Ireland (HSENI)to provide first aid at work (FAW) and FAW requalification courses.
Course Overview
A first aid at work course (FAW) is a four day course which complies with the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1982 and is fully approved and accredited by the Health and Safety Executive. The FAW course is intended for people who are required to act as the ‘designated/nominated first aider’ at a place of employment. A first aider is someone who has undergone a training course in administering FAW and upon successful completion is awarded a first aid at work HSE (NI) approved certificate which is valid for 3 years.
Aims and Objectives
This comprehensive course aims to equip delegates with the essential knowledge and practical experience to enable them to carry out first aid in the workplace. Delegates will learn vital skills by participating in unique practical exercises and scenarios devised by Survival-linX Solutions.
What you will learn?
At the end of the First Aid at Work course delegates should be able to:
• Act safely, promptly and effectively when an emergency occurs at work
• How to make an emergency call
• Recognition and prevention of cardiac arrest
• Recognise common major illnesses and take appropriate action
• Recognise minor illnesses and take appropriate action
• Administer cardio-pulmonary resuscitation (CPR) promptly and effectively
• Administer first aid safely, promptly and effectively to a casualty who is unconscious
• Administer first aid safely, promptly and effectively to a casualty who is wounded or bleeding
• Administer first aid safely, promptly and effectively to a casualty who:
• Has been burned or scalded
• Is suffering from an injury to bones, muscles or joints
• Is suffering from shock
• Has an eye injury
• May be poisoned
• Has been overcome by gas or fumes
• Transport a casualty as required by the circumstances of the workplace
• Maintain simple factual records and provide written information to a doctor or hospital, if required
Who should attend?
Any person no matter what their level of knowledge who wishes to become a qualified first aider for the workplace. Also great for those who want a comprehensive knowledge of first aid.
Course timings
09:10 am – 4:30pm (approx)
This course can be run in-house for up to 12 delegates or individuals can attend our open courses.
Full attendance is mandatory to achieve HSE (NI) approved FAW certification.
