General Practice/Dental Practice Training
A significant number of patients collapse at home in the presence of the doctor, while a further
proportion actually suffers a cardiopulmonary arrest at the doctor's or dentist's surgery.
All health care workers and first responders in the community who may encounter a cardiopulmonary arrest should be trained in defibrillation and safe resuscitation techniques as appropriate.
The Resuscitation Council UK recommends "It is unacceptable for patients who sustain a cardiopulmonary arrest to await the arrival of the ambulance service before basic resuscitation is performed and a defibrillator is available".
Survival-linX has a wide range of experience in delivering specialised in-house and one-day courses for General and Dental Practitioners. We pay a great deal of attention to the training of basic life support although we regard this as only a small part of our responsibility.
We assess every practice according to its needs and suggest lines of action for each practice member. Our training therefore includes all staff in a practice or GP co op, focusing on the attributes, skills and responsibility of each staff member. Our training meets the requirements of the new general practice contract!
If desired we also look at your 'emergency box' and advise as to storage of emergency medicines. In practices that have a defibrillator we can also provide training in use of the defibrillator and guidance in setting up protocols for an arrest situation.
Following Resuscitation Council (UK) guidelines training courses are tailored to reflect your needs.
This is a short, practical-based course with a large emphasis on 'hands-on' candidate participation. Content is covered by a lecture, demonstrations, skill stations again the focus on realistic scenario-based education giving you the confidence and basic skills required to offer the casualty the very best chance of survival.
A handout covering the current Resuscitation Council (UK) guidelines is also available to all candidates. A certificate will be issued following successful assessment.
